Without employees your business would not be able to operate and the online marketing would not function as effectively as it does now; and it is essential to reward and thank your employees to show your appreciation for a job well done.  By creating and providing a positive work environment, your employees will be more productive, innovative, and willing to work harder.  A social media marketing business only succeeds if its employees shine, and this can only happen if they are put in the right setting.

When creating an incentive plan, be sure that the reward criteria is clearly specified.  You don’t want the goals to be unclear, and have people who thought they had achieved them not get an incentive for missing an unwritten aspect.  Along these lines, make sure to reward everyone who meets the defined criteria.  If you set up a sales or online marketing goal, don’t only reward the employee with the highest sales or online marketing achievements, reward everyone who met the defined goal.  Fairness and consistency are key aspects of an incentive plan to make sure employees don’t feel left out or neglected for no reason.

When giving the recognition, be sure to be specific about why the employee is receiving it.  If they receive an incentive but don’t know why, they won’t be able to recreate the efforts that led to the incentive in the first place.  The recognition should also be given as soon as possible after the goal has been met, so that the employees don’t feel like they were forgotten or the incentive wasn’t real.

On top of the incentive plans, be sure to foster employee self-esteem in the workplace daily.  Just saying “thank you” frequently for small things the employees do will let them know that you value them and need them for your business and online marketing.
